One to one therapy, at the right time for you

Therapy is the right time in the space between us. I am Luca Fiorilli, a UKCP-registered psychotherapist and online therapist. I offer one to one therapy in sessions of 50 to 60 minutes, in English or Italian.

Sentences people bring

Some people arrive carrying a sentence that someone once said to them. Others come with words of their own.

  • You need help.

  • You’re not who you used to be.

  • You’re a burden.

  • I have lost somebody and life does not make sense anymore.

  • I always end up with the same kind of person.

  • I can’t stop. I keep exhausting myself.

  • I’m getting older, and then what?

  • I don’t know who I am.

Kairos: the moment you feel ready

The Greek word therapeia means attending to someone: the intention to take care of another person and to support them. If you are reading this page, you may be ready to be heard, and to hear yourself.

The Greeks also had a word for the opportune moment: kairos. A sailor does not leave port in a storm, and there is a time in life when we feel ready to start this kind of journey with somebody. A free first session can help us see together whether this is your time.

What is one to one therapy?

One to one therapy is a regular, private conversation between you and one therapist. There is no group, no audience and no script. The time is yours: you bring what is present for you, and we look at it together.

You do not need to arrive with a clear problem or the right words. Many people come with a feeling they cannot name yet, a pattern they keep repeating, or a question that will not go away. Part of the work is finding the words, at your pace.

What makes one to one therapy different from talking to a friend is the frame. Our sessions are confidential, they happen at a regular time, and they are protected from the demands of everyday life. Within that frame, the relationship between us becomes the place where things can be felt, said and understood.

Labels are boxes we can open

Most of us come to therapy carrying labels: I am depressed, I have a personality disorder. I invite you to carry those labels as if they were boxes. We open them together, one by one, and look after what is inside. We keep what you still need and let go of what you don’t.

Life is too rich a journey to travel with weight that only slows you down.

Who comes to one to one therapy?

People come to one to one therapy at very different moments of life: after a loss, during a separation, when work has taken over everything, when a move abroad has left them more alone than they expected, or simply when something feels stuck and they cannot say why. Some have been in therapy before. Others are starting for the first time and are not sure what to expect. Both are welcome.

How one to one therapy works with me

  • Online, wherever you are

By video, in English or Italian, at a regular time.

  • Built on our relationship

My approach is integrative, drawing on humanistic and psychospiritual models. What matters most is what we do together in our sessions.

  • At your pace

There is no fixed number of sessions. We begin with a period to assess together whether we work well, and we prepare the ending when the time comes.

Answers close the space between us; questions open it.

Questions that make space

Many people come to therapy because they want answers. I believe we need to find the right questions instead, the ones that make room for something new.

I am less interested in who you have been than in who you are being, and who you may become. Therapy is a place where we can still surprise ourselves.

Working with an online therapist

All my sessions take place online, by video. You can join from home, from your office during a break, or from another country if your life takes you abroad. Many people find it easier to open up from a space that already feels like their own.

To make the most of a session, choose a quiet room where you will not be overheard, close the door, and use headphones if you can. A stable internet connection helps, and so do a few minutes alone before and after we speak, to arrive and to land.

Online therapy keeps the essential: a regular time, a protected space and a real relationship. It also removes the journey, which can make it easier to keep going when life is busy or when you are going through a difficult period.

Questions about starting one to one therapy

What happens in the free first session?

You tell me a little about what brings you, and you get a sense of how I work and who I am. There is no commitment. Together we decide whether to start.

Do I need to know what is wrong before I start?

No. Many people arrive with a feeling rather than a clear problem. Finding the words for what is happening is often part of the work.

Can we have sessions in Italian?

Yes. I work in English and in Italian, and you can choose the language you feel most at home in.

What if I am not sure you are the right therapist for me?

That is what the first sessions are for: you see whether this way of working suits you, and I see whether I am the right person for you.

Is what I say confidential?

Yes, with a few exceptions that I explain clearly in my agreement, such as supervision and situations of serious risk.

Would you like to talk?
