Anxiety and stress
A therapist for anxiety, when you can’t stop
I work online, one to one, with people living with anxiety and stress. Sessions last 50 to 60 minutes, in English or Italian.
What anxiety can sound like
I can’t stop. I keep exhausting myself.
Resting makes me feel guilty.
I can’t stop thinking about what they think of me.
I’m fine, I’m just tired. All the time.
An alternative to CBT
Many approaches to anxiety aim to correct thoughts and behaviours. I do not practise CBT. In anxiety counselling with me, we do not treat your anxiety as a fault to be fixed. We try to understand what it is protecting, where it comes from, and what it is asking for.
I am against a model that tells us we can always do better. Anxiety often grows exactly there, in the feeling of never being enough. In our sessions, you do not have to perform, and nothing has to be solved in a hurry.
Social anxiety
Social anxiety therapy starts from the relationship, because that is where the fear lives. Being seen, judged, misunderstood: these fears are about other people, and they show up with me too. That is useful. In a safe relationship we can look at them as they happen, gently, and let something new take shape.

How does anxiety show up?
Anxiety shows up in the body and in the mind. A racing heart, a tight chest, shallow breathing, trouble sleeping. Thoughts that go round in circles, a constant sense that something is about to go wrong, the need to stay busy so as not to feel. For many people it also looks like exhaustion: always running, never arriving.
Anxiety is not a weakness of character. It is often a sign that something in your life, or in your history, is asking for attention.
What anxiety counselling with me looks like
We start from what you are living now: the situations that trigger you, the stories you tell yourself, the moments when anxiety eases.
Little by little we look at where these patterns come from and what they have protected you from. My aim is to help you find a way of living where you do not need to run so fast.
Three things to know before we start
One to one, online
From wherever you feel comfortable, with no journey and no waiting room.
Built on trust
My approach is relational: what happens between us is part of the work.
At your pace
We start with a period to assess together whether the work suits you. There is no fixed number of sessions.
Questions about anxiety therapy
Do you use CBT for anxiety?
No. My approach is integrative and relational: we work with the meaning of your anxiety and with our relationship, rather than with exercises to correct your thoughts.
Can therapy help with social anxiety?
Yes. Social anxiety is about how we feel in front of others, so a safe relationship with a therapist is a good place to explore it, gently and at your pace.
How long does it take to feel better?
There is no fixed timeline. Some people feel some relief early, simply from being heard. Deeper change usually takes longer, and we go at your pace.
Is online therapy suitable for anxiety?
For many people, yes. Talking from a familiar place can make it easier to open up. If you are unsure, we can discuss it in a free first session.
What if I am in crisis right now?
If you feel you might harm yourself, contact emergency services on 999 or go to A&E. In the UK, Samaritans answer on 116 123, day and night.
Can anxiety come back?
It can. Therapy does not promise that anxiety will never return, but it can change your relationship with it, so that it no longer runs your life.
Is this the right time to stop and listen?
