Grief and bereavement

Grief counselling, when life stops making sense

I offer grief counselling online, one to one, for people who have lost somebody and no longer recognise their own life. Sessions last 50 to 60 minutes, in English or Italian.

What grief can sound like

  • I have lost somebody and life does not make sense anymore.

  • I don’t cry, and I don’t care.

  • Everyone expects me to be over it by now.

  • I don’t know who I am without them.

In the forest of grief

Grief can feel like walking into a forest with no path. Days lose their shape, people around you move on, and you may not recognise yourself. Sometimes there are no tears at all, and that can be frightening too.

In the forest of grief, can we still find a thread that shows us the way out? This is the question I hold with the people I accompany. I do not hurry you towards an ending. We look for the thread together, at your pace.

You do not have to pretend

I know how lonely it can feel when the world moves on and you cannot. Friends stop asking, colleagues expect you to be back to normal, and you end up carrying the loss in silence.

In our sessions, you do not have to pretend you are fine. I am not an expert in your life, but in the processes that can help you heal. I trust that you already sense, somewhere, what you need.

What is grief counselling?

Grief counselling is a space to live through a loss with someone beside you, instead of carrying it alone. With me, it happens online and one to one. We give room to whatever the loss brings: sadness, anger, guilt, numbness, relief, or all of them in the same week.

Grief does not follow neat stages. It comes in waves, sometimes long after the loss, triggered by a date, a smell, a song. Many people feel they should be “over it” by now, and hide what they still feel. In our sessions, nothing needs to be hidden or hurried.

When to look for a grief therapist

There is no right moment, and no loss too small. People often reach out when grief stops them from living as they would like: when sleep, work or relationships suffer, when they feel cut off from others, or when a loss from long ago suddenly returns.

Some losses are harder to share, because the people around you do not see them as losses. These griefs deserve care too.

Questions about grief counselling

Is it too soon to start grief counselling?

Not necessarily. Some people want support in the first weeks, others months or years later. A free first session can help us see what feels right for you.

Is it normal not to cry?

Yes. Grief takes many forms, and the absence of tears does not mean you do not care. Sometimes the feelings are simply waiting for a safe place.

Can grief counselling help after a separation?

Yes. The end of a relationship is a real loss, even when it was the right decision. Grief counselling gives it the attention it deserves.

Can you help with a loss that happened long ago?

Yes. An old loss can return years later, often at a turning point in life. It is never too late to give it attention.

How grief counselling works with me

  • One to one, online

From a quiet room of your own, wherever you are.

  • No timetable for grief

There is no fixed number of sessions. We take the time your loss needs.

  • More than one kind of loss

A death, a separation, a country left behind, the life you expected: whatever you have lost deserves to be taken seriously.
