About me
Luca Fiorilli, UKCP‑registered psychotherapist
I was born in a small village in the south of Italy, and I have lived in Rome, Budapest and London. Today I work online, in English and Italian.

Why my story matters here
A line by the novelist Ann Patchett has stayed with me: making art means surrendering not your story, but your desire to fight it. I think therapy asks something similar.
Stories, in life as much as in therapy, resonate with each other. Therapy is the place where two human beings meet in dialogue, almost like a dance. I share these few lines so that you can feel whether I might be the right person for you.
Before becoming a therapist, I studied Film, Anthropology and Politics in Rome, at bachelor’s and master’s level, and I worked as an actor for a few years. The arts have stayed with me, and they still shape the way I listen.
Why I do this work
Losing hope, and working to find it again, is the reason I am here. It is not easy to stop fighting our stories and to start making meaning out of them. I know the daily pain of doing it, and I am still doing it.
What helped me was a longing for deep connection, even when everything seemed hopeless. That is what I offer in our sessions: a real connection, and the time to find your own way forward.

A therapy of trust
I see therapy as a place of trust rather than suspicion. I do not start from what is wrong with you. I start from the person in front of me, with their history, their strengths and the conditions of their life.
I am also aware that the therapy room can repeat the power dynamics we meet elsewhere: between genders, cultures, classes, or simply between the one who listens and the one who speaks. I try to keep that in view, and to talk about it openly when it matters. Trust grows slowly, and it is allowed to. I would rather ask than assume.

A life between countries
I know, from the inside, what it means to start again somewhere new: the excitement, the loneliness, the moments when you no longer feel fully at home anywhere. Moving between languages has also taught me how much is lost, and found, in translation.
This is why life abroad and culture shock are among the things I work with. Whether you have moved for work, for love or to leave something behind, therapy can be a place where all the parts of your story are welcome, in English or in Italian.
