Fees and questions

Fees, and what to expect

Here are my fees, and the answers to the questions people ask most before they start.

Fees

All sessions are online and last 50 to 60 minutes.

  • One to one sessions

    £60–80

    50–60 minutes · per session

  • Couples sessions

    £80–140

    50–60 minutes · per session

Reduced fees are available. Please ask.

How fees work

The first session is free: it is a time to meet and to see whether we can work together. After that, I charge per session. The fee falls within the range shown above and is agreed with you at the start, depending on your situation and on whether you come alone or as a couple.

Fees are reviewed once a year. If your situation changes, or if the fee is a reason for hesitating, please say so: reduced fees exist so that money does not stand in the way of starting.

Reduced fees

If paying the full fee would be difficult for you, tell me in your first message or during our free first session. We will look together at what is possible. You do not need to justify yourself: asking is enough to start the conversation.

What the fee covers

The fee covers the session itself, and the time I give to our work beyond it: keeping short notes, reflecting on what we discussed, and taking my work to clinical supervision. We talk about it openly, so that money is never left unspoken between us.

Before your first session

Our sessions take place online, by video. Choose a quiet room where you will not be overheard, check your internet connection, and give yourself a few minutes alone before and after the session. Before we start working together, I will share my agreement with you, so that the frame is clear for both of us.

Questions people ask before they start

Can I stop whenever I want?

Yes, you are free to stop. When possible, I suggest we agree on a few sessions to prepare the ending, so that the work can close well.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No. You can contact me directly. You do not need a referral to start private therapy.

What if I am in crisis right now?

Therapy sessions are not an emergency service. If you feel you might harm yourself, call 999 or go to A&E. In the UK, Samaritans answer on 116 123, day and night.

In which languages do you work?

In English and in Italian.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions is open-ended. I recommend that we start with a period to assess together whether this way of working suits you.

What if I need to cancel?

I need at least one day’s notice. With less notice, I will try to find another time in the same week that suits us both. If that is not possible, the first time there is no charge; after that, the session is charged.

Is what I say confidential?

Yes. There are a few exceptions: I discuss my work with a clinical supervisor, who is bound by the same code of ethics and confidentiality; if I believe you are at serious risk of harming yourself or others, I may have to break confidentiality, and I would always try to talk with you first; and when the law requires it. My agreement explains this in full.

Do you keep notes or recordings?

I keep short written notes, which do not carry your name and are stored securely. I may ask your permission to record a session so that I can reflect on it. You can change your mind at any time, and recordings are kept for no more than four weeks.

How do I know if it is the right time?

Often you simply feel it. A free first session can help us see together whether now is your time to begin.

Do I have to continue after the free first session?

No. After the free first session, you decide whether to go on, with no obligation.

Are couples sessions longer?

No. Couples sessions also last 50 to 60 minutes.

Can I see you in person?

At the moment, all my sessions take place online.
